Dr Gimhani commenced her medical career in 2017 after obtaining her medical degree in Sri Lanka. She has worked in both hospital and general practice settings in her home country, gaining broad clinical experience across multiple specialties.

Her hospital background includes general medicine, general surgery, renal medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, and ophthalmology. She also practised as a General Practitioner in Sri Lanka, where she developed a strong focus on continuity of care and long-term therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

In 2023, Dr Gimhani relocated to Darwin and worked at Royal Darwin Hospital before joining Top End Medical Centre, further strengthening her experience within the Australian healthcare system.

Dr Gimhani has a special interest in women’s health, minor surgical procedures, paediatrics, and chronic disease management. She is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care and takes a holistic approach to health, with an emphasis on prevention, early intervention, and clear communication to support informed decision-making.

She speaks English and Sinhalese fluently and understands Hindi well, allowing her to support patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Dr Gimhani is currently working towards a Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners as part of her ongoing commitment to professional development and excellence in general practice.
